“Rainbow” – A Beautiful Little Classic from 1897
After much restoration and preparation work by owner Mark Butler, Rainbow makes a stunning sight.  As a well respected traditional sailmaker, and owner of the famous James Lawrence Sailmakers in Brightlingsea, UK, Mark also treated Rainbow to a new suit of sails.  Keeping the original cut to the sails and using DIMENSION-POLYANT AP UV Cream cloth completed the authentic look.  Mark comments - “The sails look and performed beautifully since the boat was re-launched and she was very much admired at the recent Fife Regatta”  We wish Rainbow, owner and crew many more happy years sailing.

DIMENSION-POLYANT AP Blade and Square®
Some great results so far in two of the premium winter series currently going on in Florida. In the Jaguar Etchells series on Miami’s Biscayne Bay, Peter Duncan has won the first two regattas of the four regatta series, remarkable results for a 70+ boat fleet.  Peter’s Doyle sails include DIMENSION-POLYANT 240 AP HTP® plus / 265 Square® HTP® plus in the mainsail and 280 AP HTP® plus in the jibs.  Meanwhile, at the first regatta of the Quantum J-70 Winter Series in Tampa, Jud Smith used fabric from DIMENSION-POLYANT as well to convincingly win over a very competitive 40 boat fleet.  Jud’s sails included a 280 AP HTP® plus jib and a combination of  230 SF HTP® plus / 240 AP HTP® plus in his mainsail.  Second place finisher Rob Butler, with Quantum’s Marty Kullman (who helped get the series going) aboard, also had a full set ofDIMENSION-POLYANT sailcloth with a combination of 245 Square® HTP® plus and 265 Square® HTP® plus in the main and jib.

Successful start to two world-record attempts!

Austrian extreme sailor Norbert Sedlacek is chasing a new record since 1 p.m.!

Friday, 10th November 2013, at 1 p.m. Norbert Sedlacek started in Les Sables d’Olonne to two unprecedented world-record attempts, an indescribable hard test for the skipper and the yacht.

More than 3 metres high waves as well as wind from north-north-west with more than 20 knots will be an additional challenge for the Austrian extreme sailor.

Hundreds of fans came just for the departure of Norbert Sedlacek to Les Sables d’Olonne to wish him “fair winds”.

“Proof of Principle“ stands for the worldwide first attempt to cross the North Atlantic in a 16 feet or 4.90-meters boat, a single-handed and nonstop race from east to west by the southern route and subsequently from west to east by the northern route.

In 6-8 weeks the skipper Norbert Sedlacek will pass under the Statue of Liberty to arrive at New York Harbor. In May 2014 he will cross the North Atlantic from west to east to the port of Les Sables d`Olonne.

To fulfill these two world record attempts Norbert Sedlacek will sail approximately 8.000 nautical miles in partly drift ice ocean on a boat which is not only shorter than the average height of wave, but he will also take a risk to be a prey of the ocean sharks.  During the estimated sailing race of 80 days, the Open16 FIPOFIX provides only 1.5 m² of “protected” area.

By this extreme sailing project, Norbert Sedlacek wants to establish new sailing world records of proof that with the synergies between the futuristic art in engineering, the development of innovative materials as well as the personal experience, the ideal preparation and the resolute endurance commitment in sailing everything is nearly possible.

NEW - DIMENSION-POLYANT UVi® Technology

For many cruising applications, woven Polyester remains the best choice because it offers the maximum durability option and the UV resistance is here a major part.

DIMENSION-POLYANT recognizes this and developed the new UVi® technology to improve the UV stability of our premium woven polyester sailcloth styles.

Application of the UVi® technology in the finishing process increases the resistance to degradation from UV light by 10 – 15%.  Our comparison tests have shown that there is no woven sailcloth available with better UV stability than the fabrics produced with this proprietary finish.

The new UVi® Technology represents a remarkable step ahead in overall durability and longevity. In combination with the highest quality fibers that DIMENSION-POLYANT has committed to for the premium sailcloth market, our performance woven styles are clearly setting the benchmark for such fabrics.

In our product information leaflets we have flagged the related lines of woven styles with this new mark of quality. Look for this designation to ensure your use of this unique product line.

Code Zero GP
Swan 90, Code 0 built from the NEW DIMENSION-POLYANT CZ90 GP. Sailmaker Mike Toppa of North Sails notes below: “Yes, I finally raced with it last week at the Maxi Regatta in Porto Cervo. It was a light air regatta and we used it in 3 of the 5 races. It was a very nice sail - smooth and with great shape holding at all angles. We used it one day going into the finish line - the mini maxi's and several others had just finished. I had several people come up to me saying how great the sail looked.”

DIMENSION-POLYANT Precision Nylon – Improving Downwind Performance With two new asymmetric spinnakers from Doyle Sails England, light from RPN060 and heavy (but still very large shown here!) from CPN140, owners of Njos Tim and Nicky Octon comment on the new sails. “These new kites made from DIMENSION-POLYANT super stable cloth have transformed the downwind performance of Njos our Corby 35 from 1993. Further adding that the spinnakers have “supercharged Njos and kept her competitive for her third decade.” We wish Njos continued success in her upcoming regattas and towards her fourth decade.

The ease of handling the sails is a huge selling point to my wooden boat market. The main almost flakes itself and the genoa stows away in a small bundle. Great stuff.”

Roy Downs bends on some new Hydra Net Sails!
I finally got to bend on and do some sailing with the latest Hydra Net® project.  I went sailing with the owner, an experienced sailor, and the boat felt completely different and much faster. With us close hauled in 17knots true with the 150% Genoa (270HN) and the full main (320HN), the boat was not even breaking a sweat; we even clicked 8 knots a few times. These two sails were over 50 pounds lighter than their Dacron predecessors, which I am sure contributed to the boats newly found stiffness. The fabric was up to the sailing loads. In the high noon sunshine, there were no signs of wrinkles or any stress. Best of all, even with a 24 foot boom, the cloth is so supple and slippery one man can easily get a good flake on the main, which I made the owner do himself to drive that selling point home.  Hydra Net ROCKS.
