Nice feedback below from a happy customer who just finished the Transatlantic Race. The boat is a J-42, sails by Doyle.
7.45 knot average over 3224 miles. Seven hours separated place 6 through 8 in our class. I had a couple of nervous crew and could not race the boat as hard as I wanted during the heavy weather and wind. We hove to for seven hours during a full north Atlantic gale which cost us dearly. I did not have the heart to freak the guys out too much.
All that being said, the boat was under tremendous pressure in 30 - 50 knot winds routinely. If you read the blogs from the boats, sails were blowing up daily. Our DP line up was simply bombproof!! I can't say enough about the durability and shape/form of the #2 and #4 under wraps. The BX20 was the perfect fabric for the kind of abuse we subjected these two sails to.
The BX25 Main was brilliant. Having the 2nd reef extra deep paid big dividends as we ran this for days. Sometimes under main with two reefs alone. I highly recommend this configuration for a two reef main as the first reef is a racing reef, where shape and performance to weather is key. The second reef is a "holy shit" reef where you are really no longer racing, but trying not to wipe out the boat in a sea way. Two reefs with the #4 winged out produced low double digit boat speeds in 25-35 knots, surfing into the mid teens.
As a matter of durability, we tore up (crush tear) the main using a cunningham to pull in the second reef tack cringle, really stupid. We put a 6" tear, 3" in from the luff. The tear did not elongate and we did put some tape on it. Tough stuff!!
Please share these comments with the DP guys as we could not have been happier with the cloth. Also key in Robbie. I think I will go even smaller with my next "rating genoa". Maybe a 120 with a little higher clew. The boat ships water into the foot of the number 2 when close hauled. You get huge rating benefit for a smaller headsail.
I am shipping the boat back to Newport and will be looking to do Newport Bermuda double handed next year. Maybe with you!!! Keep working out!!Cheers Steve Berlack”
The Falmouth Working Boat class have a sensible rule restricting sail replacement to every 5 years. With the highly loaded boats racing regularly its therefore crucial to specify the correct sailcloth to ensure the sail not only survives 5 years but also performs. Here we see the latest radial cut topsail from DIMENSION-POLYANT Square®, great performance and superb longevity provided by the 1000 denier ripstop.
A typical day of British weather - bright sky, perfect breeze and crystal blue waters! Captured here is P&B’s latest radial Solo design from DIMENSION-POLYANT ODL04 1.5mil slipping across Weymouth harbour with Portland in the background. The Pirini Navy build 'P3' successfully used the DIMENSION-POLYANT Pro Lite super yacht spinnaker cloth in the Superyacht Cup Palma this past weekend. Pro Lite is the world's only Ultra-PE reinforced polyester spinnaker cloth and is specifically designed for the extremely large spinnakers on modern performance super yachts. The Ultra-PE ripstop not only enhances the stretch resistance, but it also improved the bust strength reducing the risk of exploding the spinnaker when filling. The Doyle build A2 runner on 'P3' is 2,600 m2 and the "small' A1 is a merge 2,000 m2.
As a proud Sponsor of Kiel Week it is no question for DIMENSION-POLYANT to support Kiel for the Games 2024.

Yesterday the Three Mast Bark “Alexander von Humboldt II” was presented to the public with its new set of green sails. The former Alex1 became famous being the first and only Tall Ship with a full inventory of green sails. Now, after four years of sailing under light grey cloth the Alex2 is back to green as well. What a wonderful day at sea! For almost 30 years DIMENSION-POLYANT supplies the cloth for the Alexander von Humboldt and for the third time now United Baltic Sails has made a full set of sails. Hans van der Lee, Owner of United Baltic Sails, and Robert F. Kühnen, VP Sales & Marketing of DIMENSION-POLYANT, were very pleased that the extremely tight timeline could have been matched.

The 2014 event brought 74 boats from across the US and Canada for the annual midwinter championships north of Orlando, Florida. After three days of scheduled racing, the weather allowed for only 4 of the 6 scheduled races to be completed. Diversity across the fleet as far as sailmakers shined with three different sailmaker brands in the top three and 5 sailmakers represented in the fleet. Overall champion Ron Baerwitz led the way with his UK sail, Robert Seidelmann was 2nd sporting the “Team Red” Sobstad/Moorhouse design and 3rd overall was David Moring with the Schurr design. Last year Midwinter and current MC National Champion, Kenny Wolfe was 4th and Jim Gluek (North Sails) rounded out the top five with the North sail design. DIMENSION-POLYANT is proud to be the cloth supplier of choice for the MC class for UK, Sobstad, Schurr and Gus sails. Of note, all three of the top sail brands are utilizing a different DP Dacron style from the full range of OD Dacron styles. The Skeeter class showed off some new DIMENSION-POLYANT GPL Stealth over the three day regatta. The Skeeters will be on display again this weekend with the ISA Championship scheduled for March 21-23, 2014. See more at www.iceboat.org. Photo Credit: Tim Bryden, Green Lake, WI
DIMENSION-POLYANT is pleased to announce that the ISAF has now added our RPN 075 to the list of legal materials for the F18 Class. Kenneth Madsen from our US office is an active F18 sailor himself. He has been testing a spinnaker made from RPN 075 for more than a year and his comments are quite clear: “The cloth has the perfect weight. The sails are always heavily loaded and it needs some grunt to hold the shape. The finish repels water excellently which is important as the sail normally is soaking wet and it takes the abuse of retracting into the snuffer well.”
